The family behind the work

Built through generations. Guided by one family.

The Tunney Group brings a Chicago construction legacy to Nashville development: land, design, construction, legal insight, and real estate guidance without losing the personal attention of a small firm.

Three generations of building knowledge, carried forward with every project.

The story begins with William J. Tunney Construction, which built single-family homes and apartment buildings throughout Chicago and its suburbs beginning in the 1950s. Edward Tunney learned the trade beside his father, expanded that foundation through large-scale urban construction, and later formalized the family’s development work as The Tunney Group.

Today, the firm works across residential, multifamily, mixed-use, renovation, and hospitality-minded development. Its scale has grown. Its working style has stayed deliberately close: family principals remain involved, communication stays direct, and the client is never treated like a file passed down a chain.

From Chicago craft to Nashville development

A documented path through three generations, two cities, and projects of increasing scale.

  1. 1950s

    A family trade begins

William J. Tunney establishes his construction company, building homes and apartment buildings across Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Craftsmanship becomes the family’s first language.

  2. 1977

    Edward scales the experience

After starting beside his father, Edward joins Mayfair Construction and advances to Construction Supervisor, overseeing three downtown office and residential sites totaling more than two million square feet.

  3. 2007

    Logan View reshapes a block

As managing partner, Edward completes Logan View: the adaptive transformation of an industrial building into a 79-residence mixed-use property on Fullerton Avenue in Chicago.

  4. Mid-2010s

The Tunney Group takes its name

The family formalizes decades of development, construction, real estate, hospitality, and property-management experience under one company.

  5. 2020s

    A new chapter in Nashville

The family shifts its development focus south. The Avery sells out in East Nashville, while a growing pipeline spans single-family residences and ambitious multifamily projects.

  6. Today

The next generation stays at the table

Edward, Erin, and Ryan bring construction leadership, client representation, and legal risk awareness together, supporting work such as Hayden Mansion and Trinity Townhomes while preserving a small-team relationship.

One relationship. Clearly defined roles.

Erin is the customer-facing side of a much larger capability. She listens, helps locate and evaluate property, represents buyers and sellers as a licensed Realtor, and keeps decisions moving. Behind her is the family team that understands construction feasibility, development economics, contracts, and execution.

That alignment means you do not have to re-explain your goals to a new person at every phase. Erin stays involved, while the right Tunney Group expertise joins the conversation when the project calls for it.
